pburrows
Hi, I am looking for a recommendation for a cab that I can use for rehearsal and live backline / smaller pub gigs. I tried a 2 x 12 TC Electronic today and that sounded great, but I am not sure if it would have enough output to cut it in a gig where I am not DI'd through a PA. Do you think it is possible to get something that would handle this requirement for around the sub £500 mark?
franzbassist
I'd have thought a 2x12 would do the job you describe, although I am not familiar with the TC range of cabs. What amp are you using?
pburrows
I like the idea of a 2 x 12 for portability. My old Ashdown 410 sounded horrible and was really heavy. I use a Genz Benz Streamliner 600 which I love the sound of, just need something to deliver it.
bigjimmyc
I concur with the 2x12 idea. How about this one: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/223936-tech-soundsystems-2x12-cab-price-inc-uk-pp/
pburrows
Possibly, hadn't heard of those so will do a bit of research, thanks for the tip
Happy Jack
I'm confused. Do you mean cab, or do you mean combo? Hard to see how anyone can recommend a cab if they don't know what amp you are using.
pburrows
Hi Jack, I use a Streamliner 600 and play in a classic rock band with 2 guitarists and a very noisy drummer

paul_5
Barefaced Compact can be had for roughly £500 second hand. I use mine in exactly the same band setup as you and it's great!
pburrows
Yes, a Barefaced, I'd like one of those bad boys. Will get the Christmas list sorted out for one of those if I can find one
karlfer
Not a 212 but even at 8ohms (around 350 watts from the Streamliner) I'd be very surprised if the following wouldn't cut it. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/288501-barefaced-big-baby-i-wroqsolid/page__pid__3179623#entry3179623
mcnach
The Barefaced Two10 is around £500 (I think it's £499 plus postage). It's a 2x10 but with surprising volume and sounds a lot bigger than its size suggests. Get the 4ohm version and you'll be fine. If you're interested in light and relatively compact, but still loud, deep and good sounding... The Two10 is great. Bought in Aug this year. Admittedly it`s the 16ohm version, but the "to 4ohm converter" only costs £30 from Barefaced.
