But there is a certain something with Melvin. I think it comes down to feel,his attack,his tone, his musical way that he plays. His timing and bass articulation is just so interesting to hear. His timing is absolute perfection. Awsome playing when he switches from finger style to his amazing slap playing. Of course he is a bass player that plays within a certain circle of genres. Lee Ritenoir said , as alot of Jazz guitarists said he loves the attack that slap gives the music.By the way what a brilliant guitarist that guy is. leschirons Posted November 26, 2016 Posted November 26, 2016 Apart from a couple of Lee Ritnour gigs, I saw him backing Larry Carlton and Steve Lukather. Absolute monster of a class bassist. Held my attention for the whole gig despite having two of the world's best guitarists out front. Quote
