And what's the budget we have to spend for you?
I wasn't planning on purchasing another bass at the moment as I've already recently purchased another bass namely a Sire Marcus Miller V7 so was just going to move the jazz bass on as I already have a few other bass guitars. But I feel a bit cheeky asking for a full refund as at the time I was looking to buy a jazz bass & I do have a good relationship with PMT. But then on the other hand I'll have a store credit but don't want to go & spend on something else that I don't really need at the moment but feel I should respect there decision of a store credit as I've had this bass since March 2016. Geek99
Ok thanks for all your help with this so far everyone. So basically this is not all genuine MIJ should I be entitled to a full refund from PMT as I purchased under the pretences that this was a genuine MIJ 1995? What proof can I show them to back up my claim guys?
I had one too, bought from the late mr oldgit- totally agree about the logo and butt end adjustment. Mine had non original tuners so can't comment on those

Geek99
Here'a link to a recently sold one. The differences show. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/281608-198990-fender-jazz-bass-62-reissue-mij-sold/page__p__3023548__hl__mij%2062%20jazz__fromsearch__1#entry3023548 Your body has the earthing strip which suggests 62 RI. The ONLY way to confirm this is to take the neck off. The pocket should have something like JB62 LP. Assuming it is a 62 RI, the neck should also have an extra strap button on the back of the headstock (some call this a hootenany button I believe).
I disagree about having to accept a credit note. It's not as genuine as they claimed - that comes under the Sale of Goods Act. It is not that you have "changed you mind". Being blunt - they ripped you off. The fact they were fooled by the PXer is NOT your problem. They're professional traders, it's their responsibility to know what they're selling. If you're selling, then it's "buyer beware". But when a pro sells it's down to them to be right and proper about their trading practices. If you do accept their Credit-note, make sure the credit note is open-ended and this is written on there and signed - don't accept one with an expiry date. Otherwise you could find in 6 months that the loyalty you show them isn't a 2-way thing.
Yes it was sold as - "Fender Japanese Jazz bass 60's Reissue" on my receipt. So I've got a good case here. Need to wait till Saturday to go back to see the manager as he wasn't in. But I was informed that due to how long I've had it! but to me that's not the case if this doesn't all add up it's mislead trade descriptions act & you have 6 years to make a case or 5 years in Scotland. I don't need a store credit as I have enough bass guitars. To me it doesn't matter how long I've had it it's misleading representation of what I thought I was buying which was a made in Japan 60's classic reissue that's the reason I purchased in the first instance Edited November 30, 2016 by FatFingersFlynn
Grangur
This is a useful thread - Just sold Fender Japan Jazz 62 RI http://basschat.co.uk/topic/295413-sold-fender-japan-jazz-62-ri-olympic-white-tort-great-condition-tweed-case-l600-shipped/page__fromsearch__1 Snapped up fairly quick at £600. Yours is older, so that would probably add a few pounds to it? What would a Fender MIJ Jazz sell for? That difference is what you're really talking about. I guess he can give you the difference, or take the bass back for a full credit. What you say above sounds right on the money if you ask me. The fact that you've had the use of it for X months is the cost to them of getting it wrong.

AndyTravis
I would go down the route of suggesting it's a Japanese fender Jazz, effectively their standard series. They're made for the domestic market and they are available in all cool old fender colours. Someone has added the grounding strip to look like a 60's model? If you google ishibashi ubox, there are loads of them for sale usually. Don't think the squier thing is accurate. Looked at the headstock, it's just a Japanese made fender Jazz. Not a reissue.
What did I say? 🤔😉
