Guest MoJo Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 There's an MIJ Ibanez SR600 listed on eBay. From the serial, I believe it was made in the Fujigen factory in 1989. Appears to be passive P/J configuration. Can anyone confirm that they are passive and share any experiences? Quote
Cosmo Valdemar Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 I don't know the exact model but I've never been aware of any passive Soundgears. Quote
Grangur Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 (edited) For what it's worth, this is a listing for an "Ibanez SR600 1987 original harness" http://www.ebay.co.u...wMAAOSwB09YJMpd I'm not sure if it's right though. I had an Ibanez from 2000 and that was active. I've never seen a passive Ibby. That said, the guy has all the other bits from the same bass. The body is a bit smashed up though. It's a real shame.
The bass he's selling has three pots. I assumed that it was it was vol-vol-tone. Looking at the loom in the link, it looks like it may be vol-blend-bass/treble on a concentric pot. Thanks for that Edited December 1, 2016 by MoJo Quote
Bassassin Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 1991 catalogue: I think it's passive. Controls are described as vol, tone, balance, pickups are not described as active, whereas they are in the specs of the others. I had the identical SR800 to the one pictured above the SR600, it was definitely active! Quote

bartelby Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 (edited) I've borrowed a SR400FLBK that's PJ and passive. Not that you could tell as it has a massive output. Edited December 1, 2016 by bartelby Quote
GCYPbass Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 Lower models such as 300s-400s were passive in the 90s. My first proper bass was SR370 and it was passive with pj pickups. My sr600 was active with 3band eq + active pj pickups but I don't remember the production date. Quote
alyctes Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 The only passive SR-types I've ever run across were the intro-level GSR200s and similar. Now I know better. Quote
French22 Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 I still have a 1990 SR600 : 100% passive. Great bass, high quality building, typical SR neck (slim and comfortable), controls are vol / balance / tone Quote
