rogerstodge
I have 2 markbass 1x12 traveller cabs that have blown horns, anyone know which ones I need for replacement as there seems to be so many and I wouldn't want to fit the wrong ones, I've tried a search but to no avail. Thanks in advance
yorks5stringer
You could contact their repairers in UK, I think a search would lead you to their name, sorry, can't remember it myself but it was mentioned recently. edit Real Electronics! As many disconnect the horns anyway, is it such a big issue..? Edited December 1, 2016 by yorks5stringer
rogerstodge
Thanks for the reply mate, I certainly don't miss them, only reason I want new ones is cos I'm selling the cabs I'll email real electronics thanks Edited December 1, 2016 by rogerstodge
Sparky Mark
As far as I know it's only the piezo tweeter in the cmd121p combo that people disconnect. The 12" traveller cabs have a higher quality horn with an adjustable attenuator so you can just dial it to off if you want.
yorks5stringer
Quite true, in fact I have a 121NYC with said horn...! Edited December 6, 2016 by yorks5stringer
Sparky Mark
Quite true, in fact I have a 121NYC with said horn...!
P = Piezo, H = Horn. The NY121P cab has the Piezo tweeter whilst the TRV121H has a Horn. Both cabs have adjustable attenuators. The piezo is very hissy which is why a lot of CMD121P combo owners are frustrated by the combo's lack of attenuator.
molan
None of the combos have an attenuator for the tweeter/horn. Even the high end Alain Caron model is 'always on'. Meanwhile I think all of the extension cabs do have the attenuator so you can cut the piezo on the baby 1x12 or the 2x10. I've never really understood this, the parts cost virtually nothing compared to the value of the individual cabs and combos and having an option to reduce a bit of high end hiss can sometimes be really useful. Sparky Mark
I used to own both cmd121h and cmd121p combos. Strangely it was only the piezo tweeter that hissed, the compression horn was not a problem at all.
