For Sale - Stunning example of a Mark King Signature Alembic.

34' Scale
Gorgeous Deep Dark Chocolate Cocobola Top
Mahogany Core
Rare Omega Pount 'Stinger' body shape

100% absolutely mint !! As it left Alembic. It's 10 years old but was owned by a mature gentleman who always wanted an Alembic as a 'Trophy Bass' as such it's pretty much always lived in its 'monster Alembic Flight Case'

The Bass was a custom order not an 'off the shelf' stock bass

This instrument is lighter than most Alembics I've owned and I'm pretty sure it's chambered as per the series instruments.

It plays like butter and has a big voice !! Yes for sure it does the HiFi MK tone to a Tee with a set of lighter gauge strings, I have it set up with 46-105 DR's and it's got an almost J Bass 'Bigness' to the note, clear and articulate but fat and punchy with it !! Perfect....

Without question the most resonant and 'alive' Bass I've ever picked up.... it simply 'sings' and my God that E 'Gongs' !!!

I've been lucky enough to have had 4 series instruments and 7 Signatures and hands down this is by far the pick of the bunch !

Due to giving up playing Live I'm finding it tough to justify having this bass just sitting around, I want to build a custom 'Fat Bike' for the winter so.... I'm really only after cash but may possibly consider a USA MM
Sub as a cheap PX

PM me with any Questions....

I've priced it extremely cheaply.... so any daft offers will be ignored, the price is firm !

This Bass is well North of £10k plus duty and shipping

Regards
Mark

Hi

It was specced to just have a top and leave the body wood to 'breathe' the theory being that a top and a back in coco makes the tone harsh. Alembic won't allow you to take a saving on a deluxe by removing the back wood as such the bass was specced as a standard and stringers and coco top upgrades applied. The coco top is crazy expensive as and upgrade to a standard....!!

The stinger tail is like $800 upgrade in itself !!

Absolutely gorgeous - Alembic appears to source some of the world's most beautiful timber (then work it to perfection and charge for its art). I was hoping to find this a Balanced K (though slightly relieved when it wasn't). I had a Series I standard so know that this body shape doesn't work for me. I can imagine the tone from this - unlike anything else in the world of bass. If you want that tone, you have to pay the entry price (but this MK is a very cheap way-in IMO).

Biggest bargain on BC this year? I haven't spec'd this out but I'd say around £9k even at US dealer prices (then there's the duty), and the bass looks immaculate. Two slices of cocobolo and a small brass plate and this would be a deluxe with high-end custom options. For anybody wavering, the tone out of these is totally unlike anything else - in a very positive sense

With the exchange rate it's +£10k !! then you'd have Duty and shipping to pay on top of that !

The cocobola upgrade to a standard is crazy money and the stinger body shape is $800 in itself !!

I've been fortunate to have a number of Series and DLX Signatures and this Bass trumps them all for great time !!

Something about not having a rear hardwood facing that seems to open up the tone....

With the possible exception af an 83 Reissue VW Fodera (possible) this is the most alive and resonant instrument I've ever had in my grubby mits... it just radiates !!
