tonyquipment Posted December 5, 2016 Posted December 5, 2016 Random question How much is it to refret a guitar (first say 3 frets) roughly ? It's probably going to cost more than what I paid for the guitar hah I don't really wanna pull the frets off and do it myself as I'm not sure how to correct it if I fluff it up ! Quote
tonyquipment Posted December 7, 2016 Author Posted December 7, 2016 Ok I've been quoted 200£ or 60-70 for a partial refret Not bad You can close this now Quote
Owen Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 But most of them are like philosophers. TIme is an abstract concept. Quote
ivansc Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 I paid £120 for a 12 fret job on my Tokai a couple of years ago. Chap in Northamptonshire who came very highly recommended by friends whose opinion I respect. Many years previously, a 1970 telecaster done by a chap (again recommended) at Chandlers. £100 so I guess the prices dont change a huge amount.... Quote
Monkey Steve Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 from experience, it's "whatever they think they can get away with" - the cost of the same job can vary hugely, so I'd suggest ringing or e-mailing a few to ask. I'd also suggest asking for recommendations of a good one from people who have used them before...cheap is not always good. I'd certainly give a shout to Knight Guitars if you are anywhere near Surrey - great blokes, and very reasonably priced for the stuff I'd had them do for me Quote
RhysP Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 Are you sure it needs a full refret & not just a dressing? Quote
