JohnSlade07 Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 I've got a Dean Pro Edge 4 which has a fanstatic neck, looks great etc. However, I've never been that happy with the sound which IMHO is a bit sterile and boxy for want of a better description. It has 2 Dean made soapbars and a 3 band active EQ. Couple of questions: 1) Can anyone recommend a replacement soapbar pickup that is a bit fatter and warmer? 2) Would replacing the pups make that much difference? Cheers John. Quote
Merton Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 One of the Edge models has Bartolini pickups, maybe have a look at them as a replacement? Quote
budget bassist Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 i find bartolinis to be a bit bland, maybe emgs? Also you know you posted this twice? Quote
ped Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 I had some bartolini BC soapbars in a bass that were very warm and crisp. Highly recommended! Barts just have to be in the right bass! ped Quote
budget bassist Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Yeah you're probably right there, doesn't help that i'm still running the crappy tobias preamp Quote
