Surrpaul
My band have our first WMC club gig soon, and I'd like your interpretation on their fees. They want 15% +vat. So, if we get paid £1000, will they take £180 from us or £350? I'm sure it's the former, but our drummer seems to go with the latter. Someone clear this up for me. skidder652003
yes, 15% of £1000 is £150 plus VAT at 20% is an extra £30 so a total including VAT is £180. so you guys end up with £820 Good money if thats what it really is... [/quote] I would also run this by your local MU rep if you have joined - and if you haven't, join. There's lots of advice to be had from them as well as help with contracts etc.

ivansc
MY last experience with the MU (I was a member for many years way back when) was that they have slowly but surely shrunk their sphere of interest and therefore action to mostly pit players, orchestral players and folks who work in tv and to a lesser extent radio and film. Sad really.

Luulox
With maths like that I would double check the drummers count ins too. 😊

ivansc
Anyone know if MU still offer "free Public Liability insurance with membership"?
