After a couple of years' service, one of the preamp valves threw the towel in last week so I took the opportunity to replace them all.

It was pretty straightforward - little bit of effort is involved in getting the head out of the case, but nothing too taxing.

It's all ready to go for tomorrow night 🙂

Hi, what did you replace the preamp valves with mate? Did you get them from Watford Valves?

Cheers, Steve

Hey hey

As per Leszek’s recommendation, I bought Electro Harmonix 12AX7’s from Watford Valves. Even though only one had failed, he told me swap them all out at the same time.

Damn that looks like a really nice amp! Now I'm so tempted to pull the trigger for my Barefaced BT2

I'm just wondering how long does the valves last in amps like this, I know it depends on how often you play, how loud you play, but like how long did it last for you?

My amp's probably done c.200 gigs since the post above, and it hasn't skipped a beat. I don't expect to have to replace them any time soon.
