4000
People who slag off bands like these should try and play them as well.I would rather watch a bunch of proggers/stadium bands do decent lovey dovey songs in a rock bad shirt mellodrama than watch some awful "modern" 25 something pastiche punk/ska band who dont know get or barely play what the f*** they think they are on about.(Most of them seem to work for banks or recruitment really)
I'd actually be happy to watch either! I love prog and punk. Ska-Punk-Prog...now there's a genre waiting to be explored!
tombboy
What cetera said..... boost the mids. Very punchy sound on the Escape album. Can't hear any chorus, maybe a slight touch of overdrive but nothing else. Ross used to be clean then!
steantval
Journey are just awesome, quality players all round. I had the pleasure of seeing them live in June this year and was blown away by their performance. The new vocalist Arnett is every bit a match to Steve Perry's vocals. This band make the current crop i.e. Kaiser Chiefs, Artic Monkeys etc look very amateurish in their live performances and musical ability. The reason why a lot of the big live acts from way back (Toto, Foreigner, Tod Rundgren, Uriah Heep) are touring again is because people are becoming sick of the same old dross being played by the current crop of over hyped bands, and want to see seasoned musicians/vocalists who can actually play live. I'm not just into Rock, I'm also well into Soul,Funk, Jazz, Blues etc.

Live from 1981 in Houston. Perry's voice is killer and so passionate. I learned it for our band (girl singer) and hadn't heard it since I was a kid. I love the way they end it. Steve Lawson
My fave version of the song is Petra Haden's - http://www.myspace.com/petrahaden - it's fab. Seth Horan covered it when he was in the UK recently, just bass and voice. Good stuff. Steve
