bubinga5
Who else uses this technique of palm slapping to add to the percussion of the bass.?
stingrayPete1977
The only people I've seen do it are those who can't play when you give them a bass to pose with
Cato
Give us a video example. I use the left hand palm slap thingy, but I got the impression that's pretty standard (I came across it on lesson four of a YouTube how to play slap series), so may not be what you're talking about. Cato
This is the one I use (and where I learnt it). http://youtu.be/ivbTIW4GE7w Edit: for the record, the bit where he says 'this can happen quite naturally' didn't apply to me. It took me hours of practice to find the point where I was doing it properly without accidentally fretting notes or getting unwanted harmonics or having open strings ring out because my muting technique wasn't up to scratch. Conan
I do that. Or rather, I can do that - but I've never really been able to use it in a band situation. Unless you are Mark King and have a very sympathetic drummer it all tends to end up sounding messy and overly busy. Fine for a solo or show-off technique. It works pretty well on this track though... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7GnGwlBRe7w Assuming I've understood what the OP means of course...
