I've got 2 bulldogs, 2 Boston terriers and the wife snoring away next to me on the settee. Sleep is not happening. There must be some more beer somewhere...

Think of something that makes you happy. Try to think about it in as much detail as you can. Enjoy it...a mug of warm milk and honey will sometimes do the trick too.

I thought about it and remembered there's a bottle of peach schnapps in the fridge. I'm not sure if I'm lucky or not? It's crap!

Yeah relying on alcohol to sleep is a short term fix I guess but not good to rely on it in the longer term for insomnia. Even if you were to go down that route, beer is better and less harmful. Hops make you drowsy anyway.

Fell asleep on the sofa and went back upstairs at 7. Then suddenly massive noise coming fron the chimney breast.
Wife says it's a trapped bird. I said an anorexic Santa.
Any ideas?

There's your problem, Dunc. Try sleeping on the bed with everyone, not the settee. Should be more comfortable.
