EdwardHimself
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HARLEY-BENTON-5W-CLA...bayphotohosting but this is definetly a scam, basically this guy bought this amp: http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_ga5.htm knowing that if he sold it on ebay some suckers would bid far more then it's actual value thinking "harley benton" was some kind of defunkt 70's brand. This isn't the first time i've seen someone buy something of thomann and flog it off on ebay for twice as much, once i did see a bass- one of these: http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_hbp...scale_ebass.htm a whopping £50 value being sold for £90! Excluding delivery. So if ur on ebay and don't know about thomann please don't buy anything made by harley benton!
Musky
I don't see that it's any kind of scam really. The guy's clearly describing what it is, and not suggesting that it's got any age - in fact he says he bought it for his band and only used it once, which if anything is saying it's virtually new. And a starting price of about 30% off Thomann's price is quite reasonable. There's no accounting for what people will pay though - that's entirely down to them to do their own homework. The Burpster
Eddie, your a bit left of field with you assumptions on this one it would appear..... Musky has it about right. A genuine ebayer with 100% feedback and nothing in his description is missleading. Keep up the excellent work in looking for the baddies......... The Burpster
Eddie, I'm not sure I'd use Harley Benton stuff to put a fire out..... let alone but it of the 'bay.........! (I'm sure thats' grossly unfair, but its my opinin and I'm happy with it!)
barneythedog
This is in no way a scam, just an example of how stupid and ill informed many ebay buyers are. The guy has done everything right - a reasonable start price, not misled anyone and has even given a link to Harmony Central. If people are stupid enough to pay over the odds for something they could buy NEW for less, surely that is their problem, not the honest joe seller? A bit unfair to put him up here as a scammer I think.
The Burpster
Urrrm Barney, I believe we've already covered that above........ Thanks for the corroboration tho'..
Happy Jack
There's a specialist book on Hofners, a copy of which (second hand) has just sold on eBay for £45. You can still buy them, new, for €52 = £35. There's nowt as queer as folk.
markytbass
I have another example of the above, unfortunatlly the wife has deleted it of our ebay watching list so no link sorry. Basicaly someone bought a 2nd hand eppiphone EB0 (SG single Pup) with a few dings for £205. You can get them new from GAK for £115. There was nothing misleading in the add the bass was discribed well (nothing dodgy or any false claims). Ive seen quite a few basses going 2nd hand only a tenner or so below the new price. Some people are just carzy.
