pburrows Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 Hi guys Hopefully a simple question, but I have a gig on 30 December and will need to run a DI line to a PA as well as my cab for backline. I have not tried this before. I use a Genz Benz Streamliner 600 which does have a connection available for DI which I think will work OK but I am not sure if I need to use a DI box as well. Can anyone look at this link to the user manual and see the bit about DI and let me know how it works Cheers, Merry Christmas!!! http://www.genzbenz.com/img/manuals/gb/Streamliner_600_manual.pdf Quote
Muzz Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 I had a Streamliner 900 for a long time - you don't need a DI box, just run straight out of the back of the head to the PA. You can select Pre or Post EQ (i.e. a flat signal of just your bass, or a signal after you've EQ'd on the front). Quote
pburrows Posted December 21, 2016 Author Posted December 21, 2016 Thanks, thats what I was hoping. What sort of lead did you use? Quote
Muzz Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 (edited) Normal M-F XLR... Edited December 21, 2016 by Muzz Quote
Japhet Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 Use the XLR socket to go straight to the desk. The DI on the Streamliner is very good. Quote
markstuk Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 And the pa elves will almost certainly provide the cable. They love bass amps they can di Quote
stingrayPete1977 Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 Unless you really need to go pre EQ too, can of worms opened Quote

bazzbass Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 It would be a good idea to test the DI if you have a mixer handy, to check it doesn't crackle and pop before the day. But if it is bad, the sound tech will have their own DI handy just in case. Wouldn't hurt to buy a good DI to keep in your bag. Quote
DBerriff Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 In my experience the GB DI is as good as anything and has all the switchable options needed for different mixer/PA setups. Quote
