Dave Vader
Yep, since Fender Flatwounds have gone from £18 a set to £30 odd since I last bought a set I grabbed some 45-105 legacys for a tenner, since I used to use them before I went flat, and my ears are so shot now I can barely hear the difference anyway. Sounds fine, all good, but rough as a badgers arse, my fingers are sanded clean off after rehearsal last night - not helped by the fact I've been buried at real work for a month so haven't been playing much at all in the time. Also, the tone control on my old P is back being used again, as it makes a difference ow. Hoping my fingers adjust soon, got a lot of gigs coming up next year. Beer of the Bass
I did something similar last month, sticking a set of rounds on after several years of flats. I stuck with them for about a fortnight before putting on another set of flats. Fender flats are still quite cheap from some shops - mine were less than £30 for a 5 string set from Rich Tone Music. Mister RLP
I keep putting rounds on then going back to flats.
djaxup
I've tried just about every flat out there and wanted to like them, but after a few days I always come back to stainless steel rounds. Rounds just seem to open up a lot more ways to articulate.
Mister RLP
I really want to like rounds but they don't sound like me. Chromes sound fairly bright.I've put the same set on about five times now. Quite like EB rounds and those coated ones. But always happier with Chromes. njr911
I love Fender flats but since buying the 62 Flea bass in summer I have realised that rounds suit my band better (indie rock). I'm going to swap the Fender flats from the P and put some Fender rounds on it, I'll see how I do as I'm not a fan of zing
spongebob
I love Fender flats, best strings I've ever had by a mile.
