pendingrequests
Doing some Christmas down time reading and wondering if either option is better/preferred etc. I have the Aguilar 500, which has two speakon outputs on the rear. I have been pairing it with an Ampeg PF115HE and an Ampeg 210HE. I am currently just linking them both via a loudspeaker 1/4 - 1/4 jack cable. Is there any difference if I decided to grab 2 speakon cables and connecting both cabs through the head and not linking them with one another? warwickhunt
The speakon is superior connection to a 1/4 jack (period). No output/scientific reason not to go amp > cab > cab but I prefer to take two outputs from the amp to the inputs of the cab; my reasoning is that should one lead fail I'd still have some output. If you did it amp/cab/cab and your fist lead between amp and cab #1 failed you'd be left with silence mid song/gig!
Bill Fitzmaurice
Daisy chaining sends the current for both cabs through the cable to the first. It's not a major issue, but technically each having its own lead to the amp is preferred, as is using Speakons.
Dan Dare
Bill's right (as usual). I don't have the option, as my head only has one Speakon out, unfortunately.
Lozz196
Plus if there`s a problem with one of the speaker leads lead, or an output socket on the amp, then you`ll still be getting one speakers worth of noise. Not that I`ve heard of, or read of this ever happening, but it is possible.
