Occasionally a punter in the audience will come up to me at the end of a gig and shake my hand saying 'Well done on the Bass'. Following Robbie William's lead last night, does anyone have a recommendation for a hand sanitiser that does not dry out the skin?

I also noticed that bit of unfortunate editing!

I personally get round this problem by always playing really badly. This ensures that I am left alone.

Softalind Pure (or ViscoRub if you prefer more gel-like) is my personal preference - I use it every day and have never had a problem. Purell, however, dries my hands out like crazy.

Never thought about at the end of a gig but I'm really OCD about having clean hands during the gig so won't let anyone shake my hand. I do explain why though so as not to appear antisocial.

At the end of a gig I'm always straight to the toilet anyway so would wash my hands before and after. One of the down sides of drinking a lot of water during a gig and getting older

In my experience, having lived with a form of psoriasis most of my life, anything alcohol based will dry the skin out incredibly quickly.

I'd go for a quick wash with soap and water every time.

Argh! Dove soap. Didn't you know that it takes a sack load of doves put through a cider press to make just ONE bar?!? No wonder world peace has taken a knock... it isn't owt to do with Trump, it's you lot steadily consuming the earth's population of doves!!!

For shame.

Just before hand contact is established, raise your thumb to your nose, wiggle your fingers and blow a raspberry. Germs avoided, awkwardness averted 😉

After gigs we tell the punters its £5 to buy one of our CD's or a tenner to shake our hands. Strangely enough, we dont sell many CD's. :(

I saw that too. I wondered if it was a bit of a cheeky "gag" on his behalf - especialy as he also seemed to be pulling a weird face at the same time.

I have a 5 minute slot in the lavatory where I accept handshakes from fans. That way I'm right next to a basin and airblade. I ask them to wash first.

Does a lavatory setting give a new meaning to a 'tongue in cheek' comment...?
