Jeff Ament - Pearl Jam

The intro to evenflow has a dirty great harmonic slide at the start.

I'm sure it's a Wal he uses/used.

Ah...missed that someone had already said that...

I don't think he owned Wals before Ten was released.

He had an ESP/Warmouth bitsa in the early days.

He used a Wal both times I saw them live for that track, I wasn't sure what he'd recorded with.

He's got some lovely gear, he whips an upright out for a couple of tracks too.

Can't remember the name of the band I was thinking of whose bass player uses a fretless ASAT G&L. They were flavour of the month a couple of years ago.

Alanah Miles' Black Velvet has some rasty playing on it FWIW

Apparenty that one was recorded on a synth.

I was completely oblivious of that for years until I read it on here a while ago.

Cronos from Venom used to have a half and half bass in the mid 80s (the upper half of the fingerboard was defretted), but I don't recommend it.

Or listening to Venom for that matter ;)

Sean Malone graces this track (Red Barchetta) on the Rush tribute CD 'Working Man'

Most of the album is very good and Billy Sheehan is all over it for roughly half of the album.

Not much of it but there's a couple of Tool tracks with fretless on it. Intension from 10,000 days is the main one but the 2nd verse of Lateralus has it dropped in too. Both Wals.

Joe Lester from Intronaut is also well worth a listen/watch.

John Giblin's sublime work on Fish's first solo album, Vigil In A Wilderness Of Mirrors.
