Leonard Smalls Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017
Absolutely, 46 tracks from me , that has just amazed me , before I started playing with this challenge I had never even used a DAW !
31 from me... I only got a DAW because it came free with a Focusrite Scarlett I'd bought to swap ideas with our France-based guitarist. Since then I've got a paid for DAW, keyboard/controller, mics, AKG headphones, decent studio monitor speaks and a rickety pair of tressles with a couple of planks to balance them all on! And rather than work on a song, I've got to collect Euros (bleedin' Brexit ), wash the car, practice fitting snow chains and hoover the house. Quote
RockfordStone Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 i cant remember how many ive done, ive deleted them off soundcloud i think. think the only one i have on there is the one i did with skol Quote
xgsjx Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 (edited) Got my song done this week & finished! I've been starting work at 3:45 every day this week, so I felt like the guy in the pic heading into the sunset & off to work. I tried to get the feeling of having lots of energy building up & getting a good start to the year. https://soundcloud.com/gxmix/to-a-new-sunset I've yet to listen to it on other systems, so I might need to do a little more mixing/mastering, but the song itself is complete. Rikki1984 Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 (edited) Here's my attempt (first time in a while) - as sloppy as ever! If I have time I'll try to revisit it and tidy things up a bit. The attempt at lyrics tells a very over-simplistic story of gunslinger roaming the Wild West righting wrongs etc. https://soundcloud.com/rikki-boyes/lonestar Thanks for listening - any comments are welcome Edited January 13, 2017 by Rikki1984 Quote
Bleat Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 (edited) Haven't been overly inspired composition wise for a while, been tinkering with my bass and stuff as you do! I thought I would make an attempt for the new year! It is what it is! Track is called "Colorado" https://www.youtube....h?v=UKFt5B9HqyE Cheers, James Edit to add Soundcloud link: https://soundcloud.com/foolsjourney/colorado Edited January 16, 2017 by Bleat Quote

lurksalot Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 Excellent news Dad, improvement is the main thing, It might be worth giving mine a miss then this month , it is a touch rushed It does what I wanted it to though so good luck .... https://soundcloud.com/lurksalot/back-on-my-pony Quote
christofloffer Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 i got something, though not what i originally intended. with kit going wrong and my room really not being cut out for mic recording i had to lean rather heavily on the keyboard and bass. so i ended up with a bit of soundtrack rather than the folky type thing i started with. i wanted to something in open C tuning, which fits the wild west idea in many ways. but mic recordings were awful and full of other noise and plugging it in has this annoying popping sound. anyway, as its soundtrack allow me to set the scene. it is supposed to fit the cowboy coming home after weeks of travelling. so as he clears the ridge in the picture he sees his homestead with his family running around. maybe a little soppy but that is what went through my mind as i was building it up and i dont think its a million miles off. it is short but hopefully has enough going on to not be too repetitive. i am just happy to get something done in the midst of moving house and things. https://soundcloud.com/christofloffer/back-to-the-homestead Quote

Mornats Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 I might scrape through and make this one. This bout of flu going round has been sticking with me for three weeks now and I've been making slow progress. Hopefully I should get it tweaked and mixed this weekend have something in time for the deadline. Good to have you back Douglas Quote

Mornats Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 Finally. After a month of battling with this one I've got my entry. I didn't think I was going to make it so I'm pleased to offer it up in its current state. https://soundcloud.com/mornats/the-withered Quote

Just no time this month, but it sort of fits the picture vibe. Bears an uncanny resemblance to one of my band's tunes, but that's got words and singing and everything. Less is more, but sometimes it is just less! Will try to put it on Soundcloud later if that's easier for some to listen to, but at least it's here! Quote
