bubinga5
This is just fantastic.. He's a real musical hero of mine. The layers of instruments are great on this very funky record. He's such a fantastic Pianist, and one of the all time greats of music. and a master of the funk. tinyd
He's one of my favourites but if I had to pick one tune it would be Maiden Voyage http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hwmRQ0PBtXU
TimR
I bought Rockit on12" vinyl when it first came out and promptly never heard of him again until a few years ago. I didn't appreciate exactly who we was. Think it's in the garage somewhere. It's not particularly funky but has a great groove and is probably his most famous number. timmo
I really hated Rock It. I never gave him any chance as I never knew anything about him. However, I was Youtube browsing a few weeks ago, and came across a concert with Tal Wilkenfield on bass. I realised there was a lot more to him than Rock It. I need to look up more stuff by him

Quite often his fantastic tasteful, Acoustic Jazz Piano playing is over looked by his Synth offerings. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydAwV5RMwBs The story behind Watermelon Man, along with a version with his Trio. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RzPZvKSdN7g
lowdown
Quite an innovator was Herbie. He even tore up the Disco charts in the 70's (with his use of the Vocoder). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uU7ZCUGnROk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hoqAF9ezm1M
