Oggy
Hi Basschatters Some of you will have seen my first post on 'Learn to read the dots' in this forum! I've had some really good advice and pointers given to me to get started on reading and I thank those that replied for that. An option that was suggested by one member was to get a tutor (face to face time) and read as much as I can - good advice I thought. Being able to play by ear (repetitive learning), in my opinion, makes it harder to learn to read - It's like being able to speak fluently without ever having learned to spell or read. Those of you that have been abroad a lot, say to Spain on holidays, pick up some of the language but would be hard pushed to write it down or read a Spanish newspaper - anyway that's what I liken it to. I think it would be a very good idea if I could get face to face lessons (with homework) from a Bass tutor, this should put the pressure on and stop me wondering off and playing what I think it is. 'On that note' (get the pun), does anyone out there know of a good Bass tutor within reasonable striking distance of Borehamwood (near Watford / St Albans) that I could get in touch with, and what are the sort of fees that these masters of the fret-board charge for lessons? Grangur
Would it, maybe, better to change the title to "Reading teacher wanted near Borehamwood" ?
