wotnwhy
ALL NOW SOLD! ok, first off i've got a Glockenklang Double (2x12) cab, it's been my gigging cab for over 4 years and has never fallen short on anything i've thrown at it. loads of volume for your watts (high sensitivity), crystal clear tones and good low end. the only downside for me is the lack of a mid bump, when i bought it i wanted flat response, hi-fi sound. but as times gone on i've realised this is not what i want. time and time again i find myself typing a post to sell it, then changing my mind, as the cab has seen a lot of use over 4 years and, to an extent, it shows and i know because of this i wont get the price i think it deserves (or what it's worth to me) so i always hang onto it. but i'm currently making a lot of changes to my setup, and to raise the necesarry funds this must be sacrificed. so here we have it. Glockenklang Double cab showing signs of a gigging life (scuffs, a few nicks, tarnishing/rust on grill), but in absolutely perfect working condition (these cabs are tough). taken from smart-distribution.co.uk: 'Glockenklang' translated from German means 'Bell Sound' which epitomises the company's approach to amplification - that the final sound should be the clearest, purist tone without any colouration, revealing the instrument's true sound, tone and character in absolute detail. The DOUBLE is a 2 x 12" bass cabinet. It features 500 watts as 4 or 8 ohms version with a sensitvity of 100 dB. You can use it alone or in combination with all our other cabinets. Also very suitable for double bass. The tweeter is adjustable. Technical Data Power: 500 Watt Impedance: 4 or 8 ohms Sensitivity: 100 dB/1 w/1 m Frequency Range: 36 Hz - 18KHz Dimensions HxWxD: 555 x 595 x 435 mm / 22.5" x 24.5" x 17.1" Weight: 29 kg / 64 lbs £725 new SOLD pending ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ _____________ secondly we have my Schroeder 1210. now note; this cab is in a very sorry state (whats left of it). it works, but will need an awfull lot of TLC to get it to a giggable level. but if thats your bag then theres potential to get a very very VERY good cab for a fraction of the cost! right, so now the story of what happened (i'll call it 'a series of unfortunate events'). i've told it a couple of times so some of you may already be familiar with it. on the way from rehersal to a couple of gigs, loading up the car and the cabs on the pavement. turn around to pick it up and there's a dog p!ssing on it... take it back into rehersal room, remove grill and try and clean it up. this process makes us late for the gig so cab goes into car and grill stays in rehersal room (never to be seen again). after the first gig i find the dust cap for the front 12" speaker has been pushed in... go to the second gig, put equipment on stage. some well meaning numpty decides to set up my rig for me, but connects the power amp to the (850w) speaker in 'bridge' mode (1600w) and turns on the power amp with the volumes on full. the resulting pop blew the inner 10" speaker... the cab sat in the garage for a year or 2 feeling sorry for itself. eventually i bought a replacement for the 10" driver off eubassix, who had one because his cab had arrived with a dented dust cap so Jorg sent him a replacement. so now i have a shroeder with no grill and both speaker dust caps dented. but it worked, and i used it happily as a sub in my van for the next year. but i've got a new van and i'm putting in a new install, so i no longer need it for that. so here we have a working schroeder, but with no grill, no screws for the back board, not wired up, and generally looking pretty sorry for itself. £600 new sold pending ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________ and finally we have my Euphonic Audio iamp 350. bought this a couple of years ago to replace my bulky pre/power amp setup. and it was certainly lighter and more manageable. but i have a pretty extensive preamp on my bass, and together with this i was finding it a little bit overwhelming. so when the amp developed a buzz i put it in it's little bag and put it aside until i could get round to fixing it. i exchanged a couple of e-mails with Gary at EA and he said there shouldn't be a problem repairing the amp. and i asked Laurence at Overwater for tech recomendations and why someone had written 'converted' on the heat sink and he said "The writing is mine, under Gary's instructions from EA we converted the old heat sinks to the new ones at that time". and gave me the contact details of a suitable tech to look at it. but because there was no urgency to get it fixed, i forgot about it. and it's still sitting in it's bag under my bed. the e-mails i quoted were exchanged in august 2007! here's how i described the problem to Gary back then: ...i started to notice some crackly static when i played, when i explored further i noticed it was worse in certain frequencies, most notably low E to A. the harder i played the more intense the static, which sounded not to dissimilar to a loose jack connection...there was also little cracks or pops if i moved or tapped the amp....when i tried it again today, the crackling is worse and there is now a light distortion to the sound, similar to when batteries start to run out on an active bass. i paid £350 taking offers ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________ so there we have it, one perfectly working, but slightly scruffy cab. then broken cab and amp, but both savable and potential bargains for someone. pictures on request.
