fretmeister Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 http://darkglass.com/creations/alpha-omega/ I want it. No demo yet, but I still want it. Quote
Kev Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 I'v waited so long for this! So cool to see it finally materialise. Other than the sound sample tease here and there I don't know how it sounds either. Apparently more aggressive than a B7K but at the same time a very different flavour. I can't wait to hear it properly! Quote
dannybuoy Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 Love Jon Stockman's tones. This will probably be a must buy. Quote
0175westwood29 Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 can totally see this being my first darkglass pedal!! Quote
paul_5 Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 Looks a lot like a Two Notes. I mean that in a very nice way! Quote
Mwoit Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Looks interesting. Hope it has a variety of tones and is enough to separate it from the B7K. Quote
fretmeister Posted January 20, 2017 Author Posted January 20, 2017 Quick NAMM vid https://www.instagram.com/p/BPdrWcYAUJu/ Quote
Kev Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017
Quick NAMM vid https://www.instagram.com/p/BPdrWcYAUJu/
Impossible to draw conclusions off such a video, but it certainly sounds more nasal than the B*K/Vintage Quote
fretmeister Posted January 20, 2017 Author Posted January 20, 2017 I was going to say more guttural. Definitely needs a proper demo. Whether I get one will depend on what the bass heavy update for my Helix sounds like next month. Quote
bjelkeman Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 I have tried one of the prototypes. I wrote this about it, at that "other forum"
To those that follow the Darkglass pedal thread, it will come as no surprise that Doug is working with Jon Stockman on a new pedal. I was a bit naively thinking that I had heard what I needed from Darkglass when it comes to distortion pedals and I have a B7K and a VMT. After all, the BXK/VMT/Duality fuzz are no slouches in this space. So when I heard that a signature pedal was coming, I arrogantly thought I wouldn't need it as I have a B7K and VMT. Boy was I wrong! The new pedal is something different, again. From clean to brutal bass … soundscapes? I am sure I haven't heard anything like it before. (But then I haven't listened to Karnivool before.) If you like distorted bass, there is going to be some real goodies in there, quite a few actually. The prototype pedal was amazingly versatile. More so than both the B7K and VMT I think.
Rest assured that I am getting one. Quote
Kev Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 I just hope the pound improves by the time its released. One would assume it will be B7K/VTD priced, and at the moment they are back up for £285 at Bass Direct. They were £225 when the Ultra series came out Quote
GreeneKing Posted January 21, 2017 Posted January 21, 2017
Oof.
Very nice Quote
0175westwood29 Posted January 22, 2017 Posted January 22, 2017 Sounds nice I'm really hoping the pricing isn't silly! It'll be somewhere between the b7 and ultra probs which is to much for a drive but will wait and see. This is just imo tho not having a go at Doug just gutting his stuff is so expensive Quote
fretmeister Posted January 22, 2017 Author Posted January 22, 2017 Prices have gone up by loads due to the pound crash. I got my VMTD for about £220, now they are £260 or more. I bet the Alpha will be £300-£325. If they are, then I won't buy one new. Quote

fretmeister Posted January 22, 2017 Author Posted January 22, 2017 The B7K Ultra is about £375 already. Apparently the Alpha will be in between the B7K and the B7K Ultra. Quote
Kev Posted January 22, 2017 Posted January 22, 2017 It will have to be beyond remarkable at that price point, I really hope it isn't more than a B7K. Quote
radiophonic Posted January 22, 2017 Posted January 22, 2017 The crashing pound is really starting to sting on gear like this. I'd been considering a B7K, but I simply can't justify the money. I may still get a B3K but no matter how good this one is, I already know it's going to be of my price range. Quote
Musicman20 Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 Yeah, if it is hitting those high prices, it is going to put people off. Quote
0175westwood29 Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 also at that price its in the same kinda range as chase bliss brothers, def not the same kinda sound but with all the midi possibilities and different sound on tap via presets the Brothers looks pricey but kinda worth it, but it does sound very good! andy Quote
dannybuoy Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 They'll still sell though, just like there are plenty of people willing to spend over £800 on an iPhone. Quote
