NBD :-) BaCH Semi-acoustic long scale bass (New photos)

I had a longing to revisit the old EB2, but when I had one I didn't get on with the clumpy short scale neck, so when I heard that BaCH were offering a long scale version I thought it might be the solution. However they were not on their website, so when o contacted them I was told they were discontinued after pressure from ........... However they did have some unfinished ones which they would supply without a bridge.

It arrived today, a beautifully finished natural body with a darker wood neck (just like the old G..son), but long scale and only 39mm at the nut and a single mud-bucker. Can't wait to hear what it sounds like, just need the 3 point bridge to arrive and some strings (flats of course) and away we go,the 60's revisited.

Updated the pics to show this bass now the bridge is on and strung up with flats.

Never seen or heard of this company before. Been lusting after a plain eb2 or rivoli type bass for years.out of interest, how much was it?
PM'd you. Hope it's helpful.

Were you tempted by the Warwick Star Bass II, which has 2 humbuckers? I know it's not period correct but that Warwick has the most impressive sound range of any bass I've seen on the t'internet.

Just thinking.

I had an original 1962 EB2 and sold it a long time ago and revisited it recently with a Korean Warwick Star Bass 5 which had the 34" scale neck.
It has now been sold also but was a lovely Bass, too lovely to keep in the end!
i looked at the Warwick but think they are expensive. I don't need a semi for gigs, it was just nostalgia so this is mainly for fun at home. My old EB2 was the double pickup version and I found them terribly imbalanced. I never really used the bridge pick up as a result so thought this EB2 lookalike should be the single pickup version.

Do you have to put the 3 point on it? How about a Hipshot or 2 piece?
i quite wanted to keep this looking vintage, plus the Hipshot costs nearly as much as the entire bass! Slight exaggeration but they are ridiculously over priced.

Congrats.
Hope you can get the bridge right. That could be a bit tricky.

Bridge was fitted by a local guitar maker I know who usually specialises in acoustics. However he did a cracking job, for a very reasonable price, it's up and working fine strung with Chrome flats. Hope to post some new pictures shortly. Interestingly the "mud bicker" type pickup isn't muddy, has a nice clear resonance and a reasonable range of tones , better than I expected.

I was torn between that gorgeous red and the natural, you obviously like these basses. How do find the balance between the front and rear pickups on the long scale? Presumably where you changed them to the Gibsons they balance well.

Do prefer playing the short or the long scale and why both?

I switch between short scale basses and long scale basses all the time. They each have their own pros and cons.

The balance between the neck pickup and the bridge pickup on the long scale antique red one is fine. I like to dial in just enough of the neck pickup to give the mini humbucker at the bridge some support in the deep end. But I guess that is a personal preference.

She can definitely roar!

The short scale blonde was turned into a Gibson Les Paul hybrid within two hours when I received it. It was an impulsive act ;-)
But I haven't regretted it for one second. This was my main axe throughout 2016.
