I wish they had maple boards too, though I've definitely seen a picture of a 2025 with a maple board but it was incredibly rare if I recall.

I tired to get a maple board 2024x a couple of years ago, which sold pretty much the moment it went it to stock. I thought I was in there early doors, but someone must have pulled the trigger the second they saw it.

Right. I've laid down the ducats for this baby. 450 ducats to be precise. I should be receiving her by the end of the week fingers crossed!

Pics from the seller:

I can't wait :-O

Why thank you. I think so too :D

There's some wear on the neck which I'm told actually improves the feel...we shall see. I'll be posting an update and new pics once I've had a chance to have a proper play in person.

There's one that's changed hands a couple of times around here: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/231731-fsft-yamaha-bb2024mx-super-precisionjazz-sold/

Oh man that is serious bass porn. Though after a few searches it doesn't seeem like Yamaha ever extended the maple board love to the 5 stringer :( a real tragedy.

On a side note - any suggestions on where I could get a red tort pickguard made for this??

Strictly speaking this is not a Nathan East model, it's a BB2004. Still a very good bass at an excellent price. The Nathan East model is the BBNE2.

Ooh that is a looker. Although it looks like it may have the same preamp as the TRB1005 I tried the other day...didn't sound great to me tbh. Although that was after playing the thunderous BB1025x. I guess it could have been the soap bar/humbuckers in the TRB that were more to blame though. I'd like to think this sounds a lot better!

It's different - the BB2004 has a 2-band EQ plus mid cut switch and frequency selector, the 1005 has a 3-band EQ. The 1005 is also a 35" scale bolt-on . The BB2004/2005 is a later design and a newer generation of pre-amp which has much more in common with the BBNE1.

There is a BB2005 for sale in the forum here, but I thought you didn't want active.

Got my BB1025x delivered today and have been playing it for the last 4 hours straight. Will try and get a proper review done tomorrow but so far I can say this is definitely my new #1 bass! What a dream to play!

You could try Jack's Instrument Services - http://www.jacksinstrumentservices.com/
Had a scratchplate done by him from a template I sent for a Stringray copy with a modded pickup layout - excellent quality, fast turnaround and really friendly helpful service. They also did a re-fin for me which was superb too (that bass is long gone though...)

Nice eBay finds there!

I've had my eye on Jack's actually, I reckon I'll go to them when I finally decide to get a guard made. Nice selection of colours and finishes on their sample page too which is great.

I think the maple was a custom order, so if you were serious about a maple 2025X and Yamaha are still making them, you might be able to order one from a dealer.
