Aaronk0
Hi I have an ashdown rootmaster 500w head at home I was wondering if I could run my electric guitar through the ashdown head and into a guitar cab Has anyone experienced this or tried it?, I thought it could be an interesting sound
BobVbass
yes - usually ends up with a very chuncky sound - great for rhythm although I guess it will get muddy really quickly in a band scenario
Japhet
Works alright if you take out most of the bass and a fair bit of low mids eq.. Electric guitar through a Fender Bassman is a classic sound.
MoonBassAlpha
Watch the power handling of the cab too. If using distorted guitar sounds, it may not be obvious if the speaker is complaining. What is the cab anyhow?
Aaronk0
Thanks for all the help guys, I've got a cornford 1*12 cab but in my rehesal rooms there's some bigger cabs that I can test it through too. I'm recording a post rock project soon so I'm looking at cool ways of making different tones to use.
MoonBassAlpha
make good use of the mute button when plugging and unplugging. Wouldn't want to pop a nice speaker like that.
blue
If you know what your buying guitar amps can be better than bass amps in someways. Tom Peterson bass player for Cheap Trick uses Orange Guitar Rigs. Blue
mikel
Why not. As said above the Fender Bassman was a much used sound by guitarists.
