markstuk
I've just had a thunderfunk TF750 arrive 😉 will post pictures and first impressions later Slight hum - appears that this is an issue that is addressed with a small fix, and inaudible at any volume anyway... Sounds more "solid" than my RH750 - will gig it on Saturday night and see how it behaves in the wild.. machinehead
Thunderfunk amps are superb. That's a cracking rig Mark. One thing about Thunderfunk amps that's rarely mentioned, is that they can be easily repaired. All the components, with the possible exception of the transformer, are readily available and not difficult to replace. Frank.
warwickhunt
My 750 has a slight hum when the 'tube' switch is on, no probs in SS mode. IIRC a previous owner had this checked but it wasn't remedied... never bothered me so I've left it as is! Oddly my previous 550 had no such issue. I suspect it's coming from the transformer which I think they changed in later versions. Frank.

BassBod
I briefly owned a 550, with an early version of the switch. Lovely amp..a lot like an SWR. Mine had a hum, not silly but noticeable in very quiet settings. Had a very good local tech try the "humbuck" mod, (wire over the transformer, out of phase) but it only reduced it slightly. Other than that, it was my perfect amp 😳
markstuk
Loved it at the gig on Saturday,, More "present" than my RH750.. Also fits nicely on top of the S12 which appeals to my (albeit limited) aesthetic sense.. Opened the amp up - it has the "humbuck" mod. The hum is quieter than the fan, so it's not really a big deal.. Edited January 30, 2017 by markstuk
BassBod
Yes, not a problem in any normal gig setting. I just do theatre stuff sometimes...has to be proper quiet..no fans, no nothing.
