Bob G
I have this Peavey head dated 1979, I'm used to bass/mid/treble/maybe presence on amps, what does the parametric eq do, and how does it work?
BassBus
Let's say your talking about mid frequency. You'll have a knob that allows you to select the frequency you want to control. Another knob will work alongside that to boost or cut that selected frequency. The boost and cut knob works in the same way as your regular bass/mid/treble knobs but you have the addition of being able to select which frequency you boost and cut. BigRedX
A good parametric EQ will also have a Q control which changes how wide the frequency range is.

Chienmortbb
I think having all three controls is parametric, just frequency and gain/level is called semi-parametric. Pedantic I know! All the info above is correct though, basically a sweepable freqency control. Additionally, with the setup you have you may find it cuts in a narrow band and boosts in a wider one although you'd have to check the spec for that specific amp.
Correct!
