Raslee Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 (edited) Got one of those wonderful Mex Fender 50's Precision's a while back and I have to say I'm really impressed with it - even adapting to the chunky neck, perfect P tone IMO. However, when i pick it up for a little spanking having been hung up for a few days I find the G string buzzing on the neck. Now that isn't a line from a porno but a freaky experience where a single bridge saddle screw is winding itself loose and automatically adjusting the action. I've adjusted the height several times now only to find it's wound itself down the next day. Now as a professional mental health worker by day I often associate the paranormal with a large percentage of my caseload, and I've learned many years ago that superstition really is just a great grooving funk tune. But guys do I need to call the Ghostbusters and if so has anyone got their number? Thread shot perhaps? (not this one i hasten to add), any ideas you lovely bunch ? RhysP Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 They do that sometimes. Just use a bit of loctite threadlock or something similar on it. Quote

prowla Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 Threadlock - that's been on my shopping list for years and I never quite seem to get around to picking some up! Quote
stingrayPete1977 Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 Where are the BBOT fans to tell us that this never happens and it's the greatest invention ever? "Slap a Badass on it!". Quote
Rexel Matador Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 Loctite 222 low strength thread locker - strong enough to hold it but not so strong you can't undo it. The saddles on my Ibanez were vibrating themselves right down after a couple of hours of aggressive picking and I wasn't sure this stuff would be up to the job, but it 100% fixed it. Weird that it's happening while you're not using it though! Quote
prowla Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017
Nail varnish will do the job
I suppose that's handy to know if you're in a glam-rock band... Quote

dmccombe7 Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 Cheaper with a tiny spot of nail varnish. Don't drown it tho as you might need to adjust string height at some point. If that fails i would move onto a tiny spot of Loctite. Dave Quote
EMG456 Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 Well known fundamental design flaw in the BBOT bridge. (runs for cover) Quote
