Hellzero Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 It's real name is MB-4 and it was (ans still is) the fastest midi system on the market, because the note was sensed by each fret that was divided in four section (5 on the fivers) and not by an hex pickup, even if there's one, it's only here for the effect (bend, dynamic,...) applied on the note played... This is the first version as this infamous hex pickup was suppressed on the second one, the effect being sensed directly by the magnetic pickups. It's a real piece of history. For the module, the Peavey should work as they bought the rights for this system manufactured by the Australian Steve CHICK company. Norwood Posted January 29, 2017 Author Posted January 29, 2017 The same at the bass gallery but with module http://thebassgallery.com/index.php/bass/wal-mb4.html
Kiwi Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017
For the module, the Peavey should work as they bought the rights for this system manufactured by the Australian Steve CHICK company.
It would be worth dropping Steve Chick a line via his new company (which still offer MIDI basses) Industrial Radio to confirm this. He does tweak things in search of constant improvements.
Hellzero Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 Great idea ! Here is the link : http://www.industrialradio.com.au
Hellzero Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 Even better, read this from his website : "NOTE: If you would like to upgrade your existing 8-pin MIDI Bass to the 15-pin system that works with the FSI-1 contact us." The link : http://www.industrialradio.com.au/products/fsi-1-fretsense-interface.html So for little money, you'll get this bass back into (acurate) midi tracks !
EMG456 Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 They also came with a wooden pedalboard which let you send program changes to your midi gear and add midi vibrato to your notes. This version of Steve Chicks system was before he added the tension sensor into the bridge to allow for bends and vibrato. Great bass.
