Maybe it was in the period where I stopped watching them but I thought he'd given up on the doublenecks well before the guy says that was made. If I was interested in buying (not that I am) I think I'd want proof. Quote

BigRedX Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 Lets face it, it's not a Shergold so unfortunately it doesn't really have the Mike Rutherford vibe. Quote
SJA Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 ugh- look at the heels on the necks- anti-all-access? and square wooden control knobs? Quote
wateroftyne Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 It might have been owned by Mike Rutherford, but I don't think it was used for anything worth mentioning...! Quote

I remember it distinctly because of my huge dislike for him. Quote
bricummo Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 (edited) Hmmmm, Mr Sowder is being a naughty boy! I happen to know EXACTLY where this guitar came from, and it certainly wasn't Mr Rutherford! You may be interested to check this link out, also check the date and price! I genuinely thought a MR fan might be interested (though I confess I thought the price was a bit rich) and I certainly wasn't aware of any previous eBay sale! Quote
bricummo Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Sorry WH, Wasn't insinuating you knew anything about it, apologies if it came across that way. No could tell you were just posting an interesting item, I just happened to be watching this very item on EBay myself and couldn't believe my eyes when saw his post! He's literally received it in the post and put it up for sale, the cheek of some people! Cheers, Bri. Quote
philw Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Somebody should make the TalkBass mods aware of this. It's basically an attempt at fraud. Phil Quote
Rich Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Mike R has used double-necked Shergold, Status and Ibanez instruments in his time... I cannot imagine for the life of me that he would have chosen this crude and fugly piece of firewood over that lot! It's just an odd twist of fate that an item I thought was a bit over priced and 'maybe' of some interest to a bass playing Genesis fan, turns out to be a quick money maker for a bassist who appears to be economical with the truth. Is it possible that he misread the ebay advert, and thought that it actually belonged to Mike Rutherford ?. Quote
