Unusual colour Thunder 1A bass

This is the first time I have seen one in this colour, it looks really nice and for once it seems a sensible price, there have been a few on Evibay in recent months at £400 +

Why is the centre section of the body un-coloured and stripy, when it's a bolt-on neck (that isn't stripy)?

Window dressing.

Not an uncommon thing for Matsumoku basses from this period. also happened with the set necks. I think it looks good.
