dmccombe7 Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 Murder On the Dancefloor - think its just Guy's bass line that makes it but it is a very cheesy disco song. Quote
mikel Posted February 8, 2017 Author Posted February 8, 2017
I'm sorry, but the couplet 'I want to be, just as close as, The Holy Ghost...s' is just so arse-clenchingly poor that it disqualifies it. One of the worst lyrics of all time. If it has to be that sorta By Jovi thing, then Blaze Of Glory's virtually the same thing, with a little less clenching...
But that is what makes it cheesy. If the lyric was up there with Keats or Browning it wouldnt be teeth grating would it? Quote
addictedtobass Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 mine are ,woman in love by barbera streisand and a little bit more by Dr Hook..................I'll get me coat ! Quote

scalpy Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 We played a wedding last year where Chesney Hawkes was a guest. 'I am the one and only' drove me nuts at the time but having to learn it and write it out for the rest of the band meant I found a lot of respect for it- it's got more key changes than Yale RnD. He was super slick and professional as well, very polite and sang great. Quote

xgsjx Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 PPAP - Pure cheese & makes my niece smile! Dancing Queen is the one song I can truly say that I detest. Abba were great musically, but that song does everything in the most irritating way. Quote
el borracho Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 There's nobody to me more cheesy than Barry Manilow, but I think the arrangement of Could It Be Magic is perfection. Quote
Ashweb Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 For me, I think it has to be 'Yes sir, I can boogie' by Baccara. I was 8 at the time - that's my excuse, anyway Or there's 'Uptown top ranking' by Althia and Donna - not just cheesy, but the whole damned cheese board... Perhaps we should compile the top ten 'cheesy listening' songs. Quote

tauzero Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 A-Ha - Take on me. Wanted to do that with the last band but the guitarist wasn't keen and Mrs Zero was a bit ambivalent about coping with the vocals. Quote
casapete Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 Downtown, Petula Clark. Great song that builds, with great pedal bass part. You call it cheesey, I call it brilliant. Quote
