Dubs
Realistically, statistics would show that a Fender is more likely to crop up time and time again in any genre - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...hat+do+you+play – this isn’t exactly a shocker though. I’d bet £100 that if every bass player in every band in every genre was asked what bass they play, then Fender would be the manufacture that would be the most popular amongst bass players in most genres. I’d be shocked if Warwick came out on top as the most popular bass for the metal genre if such research was carried out. I think Warwicks sound great in any genre, but then that’s just my biased opinion
Lfalex v1.1
I've used my Streamer LX VI at folky/acoustic gigs. And the Infinity SN4, too. The other bands mocked the 6. Before I played it. Then they sort of stopped. A good bass is a good bass, and you should be able to stretch it to fit your needs, irrespective of current fashions. sshorepunk
I photograph a lot of metal bands, and yes, a lot play warwicks and they do sound good. Arecent metal gig I shot with 4 bands, saw two of the bands bassist' on Warwick. The headliners are endorsed by Warwick / Framus and the bassis was suing a 5 string stage 1 in black with a HUGE MOP inlay running down the neck (lots of $$) Warwicks marketting has changed over the years also, check out the old bassist mags for pics of Stuart Zender and the guy who played the 6 string Stremaer (forgot his name) The ads featured mainly funk players for a good while! Then it changed, a gradual transition over to metal and several metal endorsments! A good friend of mine used to run Warwick UK and we've had the conversation over this exact chnage in marketting! Warwick wanted to broaden there appeal, there's a lot of metal bands out there and some $$ to be made, so marketting will always be aimed at the most profitable target audience, that approack ain't justy restricted to Warwick! Josh
The timing of this thread isn't ideal, especially when I'm pining for another Warwick, I miss them

Rich
yeah agree its totally about cutting through. been listening to the early Extreme stuf and particularly the Pornograffitti album, pat uses a warwick on there and you can clearly hear the nasal tone of his warwick cutting through Nuno's guitar, which it needs to do as the guitar is quite over powering
A Warwick, really? Blimey, I'd always assumed it was his Mouradian. Maybe he just kept that for the videos? Our very own joegarcia is another 'semi-skilled monkey on the PA desk'. Only he doesn't make it sound like mud, he makes it (and the rest of the band) sound very very very very VERY good indeed.

Rich
Yup, he might have done. I saw them live on the telly once though and he was definitely using a Mouradian then.
littleal
I've had too many basses to mention here (always looking for that perfect sound) as i play a vast range of music, funk,soul,rock,m.o.r,METAL & even country if i'm payed enough. after going through the motions with trying different basses i settled on a warwick 5 string thumb & a wal custom 4, the warwick could cover every style of music with a bit of tweaking here & there. i sold both basses & bought a sei 6 a lovely looking bass that had a nice sound of it's own but i missed the sound & feel of my warwick so i traded it for another thumb nt6 & now i feel at home again, so i would say that in my mind the warwicks that i've had are very versitile in covering most types of music. Now i just need to find a nice wal 6 string as the 4 string i had was just an awsome bass. Josh don't let anything put you off buying a thumb, if i'd known you were after one when my girlfriend collected that eden cab from you, id've let her take my one with her just so you could try it.
