darkandrew
My local music shop only seems to stock cheaper, lower budget stuff. The only thing that they have for £500+ are a couple of Michael Kelly Patriots (Les Paul look-alikes) for £549 and £599. Does any one have any experience of Michael Kelly guitars? Mudpup
Our guitarist has a Patriot. Its pretty (brown tiger stripe top) but doesn't have the welly that his Les Pauls do and consequently doesn't come out often.
darkandrew
They certainly looked pretty enough but I wasn't keen on the neck profile. I'd never heard of them before - seem to be an American company that make their guitars in the far east to keep them at a particular price point. Speaking of which, is it just my local music shops or have most shops stopped stocking more expensive guitars and basses, concentrating instead on the cheaper end of the market? I went in there looking to PX my Gibson Les Paul Studio for a guitar with a thinner neck (it's got the 50's profile) only to be greeted by a rack full of £150 - £300 guitars. Not even a single MIM Fender (I would probably have walked out with a Tele if they'd had one). Edited February 16, 2017 by darkandrew
RhysP
Not a guitar but I owned a Michael Kelly mandolin for a while. It was pretty good.
