Based on Fender preamps if I recall.[/quote] And now you can get that same preamp topology in a dead cheap but amazing sounding Hartke! Merton
My ultimate amp head would be the Trace V-Type preamp mated to a 600W MOSFET power amp. Basically, I want a Trace V-Type 600H amp head please. About as rare as the 4x8 cab I have.

tombboy
Got a Markbass TA503.... let me see: Tube pre-amp = yup! 2U rack = aye! Lightweight = indeedy! Speakon/Jack outputs = yessuree! Footswitch mute = yar! Parametric eq = 4 band Tuner out & effects loop = present. 500 watts into 4 ohms = kaboom! Balanced DI with level = tick! Compression = nope!! But the 501 does!! (and anything after 1 O'clock on the master just compresses anyway.) Blue lights = sexy!
