Hi Folks

Been thinking about songs that have a bass solo or a featured bass part in them and got to wondering how many there might be. I'm not so much thinking here of your virtuoso Jaco/Victor Wooten type stuff, but more about songs that allow the bass to come to the fore.

Here's a few I can think of straight off the top of my head:

'I'm Not in Love' 10cc
My Generation The Who
Song for Europe Roxy Music

And maybe it's arguable that songs like 'Good Times' and 'Hit Me with Your Rhythm Stick' are three and a half minute bass solos anyway...But, whatever your definition, there must be loads of songs out there that have a spot where the bass and/or bass player gets the spotlight for once?

So, any more you can add to the list anyone....?

Mr Big - Free
Alright Now - Free; the bass line is an integral part of the solo. Almost all Free songs have a strong melodic bass line that contributes massively to the feel of the song.
The Seeker - The Who
The Real Me - The Who
intro to My Girl - Temptations; Igor and Robert White
intro to Whats Going On - nuff said

Gloria by U2 has a bass solo in it. Not all that flash but there all the same.

New Year's Day and Two Hearts Beat as One are also "bass songs"
