BassBus
My Status Series 3 seems to have stemmed my flow of gas. But then, the plumber is coming round to fix the pipes so the gas can flow freely again. :-D

TrevorR
My two Wal basses (bought in around 1993 and 2001) have been a pretty effective GAS cure and neither are going to be sold any time soon (i.e. NEVER!).

TheGreek
Will you people never learn?? There is no cure for GAS!! warwickhunt
Getting back my old Warwick 'Infinette'! Got an offer too good to refuse (I was out of work at the time) so I sold it; I've got an identical bass but it is 1lb heavier... no good for a dodgy shoulder! KingPrawn
Whilst I have resisted the urge for years. I know in my heart I have to have a mid 70's Fender Jazz, with Rose wood fret board. The longer I leave it the more expensive they become.
lownote
Even Einstein had a take on GAS. Scientists have confirmed that: The optimum number of basses is f+1, where f is the number of basses you have now.
SpondonBassed
This is a trick question. The Greek is quite right. There is no cure for the GAS. Ask any hi-fi buff from the seventies. Ask any hi-def buff from this era. You upgrade one piece of your system thinking it is the last piece in your puzzle and it exposes another (perceived) weak spot. This is a trap that enthusiasts fall into quite often, the upgrade cycle. It isn't long before you replace every bit of what you started out with and find you are still trying to scratch that "itch". It doesn't matter if you are into music, cars or computers; if you are that enthusiastic, you will never be satisfied. I used to be like that until I realised I was missing the point - the music not the equipment I was playing it on. Now if I could get an affordable Warwick GPS Corvette 5 FL Bubinga, my life would be complete. Hahahahahahahaha! Yeah right.

chris_b
Longing for something is nothing like owning it. Once you make a special bass your go-to instrument your levels, expectations and interests readjust.
Cat Burrito
I agree with the above (chris b ). Sometimes a nice bass calms it down and then people start talking about pedals or amps or straps etc. I think the root of the problem needs to be addressed - otherwise it is like trying to cure a gambling addiction by having a winning bet. Lozz196
The bass to end my GAS is the 2012 - 16 US Fender Precision that I have. So I have obviously just bought another one of them..............
timmo
I want a semi hollow really badly. I doubt that will be the end though. I also want a decent Jazz bass. The only cure is money,

LewisK1975
GAS never goes away. It is only ever 'subdued' at best in my experience. The amount of times I've told myself that I'll never need another bass if I get that one!

If money was no object and every bass was available to buy you'd end up with more basses than you could possibly hope to play. In fact you'd become one of those queer creatures - a collector.
