chrisanthony1211
Just ordered myself a spitfire tort for my 1964 Precision, specked 60s burgundy. Basschatters seem to have mixed experiences re: customer services but so far all is going very well. These are pretty expensive but there doesn't seem to be anything made at the moment which compares, anyone got one? Dood
There's some tasty examples there. I'm reading it right, the non-relic'd types are $200?
chrisanthony1211
Yep, I've gone for a light relic, not cheap, I've just had an email to tell me he's about to start work on it, can't wait...
Rumple
Nothing else I've laid eyes on so far comes close to what Spitfire produce but the only one I've seen in the flesh did have a lot of dark in it which spoilt the look a bit for me. chrisanthony1211
I have a Fender pure vintage 63 tort pickguard, I shall put them side by side and take some photos when it arrives! Thunderbird
Hope it is good that seems bonkers money for a pickguard IMO
three
I had a Spitfire on a J. Really, as close as you'll get to an original celluloid. Recently bought a real celluloid plate from Simms - beautiful and around half the price of the Spitfire (but the latter has the edge)

Mudpup
Excuse my ignorance but what makes them (Spitfire) so expensive compared to general ones? Does he have to catch the tortoise or something?
Well for a start it looks much more like the lovely vintage tort, rather than a lot of the modern stuff which looks more like a slice of Salami.
Other than not looking like a slice of salami, Mark individually hand makes these over in the states to your personal preference, whilst I love tort, all modern tort all looks a bit naff to me, and if you can find a decent vintage tort, you're looking at at twice the price of this. lee650
I must say that is just stunning😀 id even say well worth the money! Modern tort looks rubbish! Even the ones that come on high end basses. Edited March 1, 2017 by lee650
