Pete Howlett 5 String Bass Uke Price drop :(
£900

£650

Pete made me this 5 string Bass Uke some time ago. It is a thing of joy but I am just not using it qand could usefully put the money into a bass guitar I am having extensive work done on at the moment. Pete has said that he will never make another. It is tuned BEADG. I would like £900 for it. I am happy to courier at cost. Yes, the shiny things on the neck are LEDs. Everyone needs a bit of glamour now and again. It has the one vol knob and a tone control on the control plate that needs a screwdriver. It seemed a shame to put more knobs on the front than needed. It has all the hallmarks of a Howlett but with lower notes. It has a Fishman piezo and an East Piezo buffer pre.

It sounds like this https://soundcloud.c...ns/howlett-demo

Here are some other examples of his work

Seriously thinking about this...

Want it you know you do.

Don't suppose you'd be contemplating any trades at all?

I tried this bass, all too briefly, at the DB BassBash last year, and it is truly a thing of beauty.

Trades? What, like a Lull PT4? Not really thinking of trades, but thanks for asking. I have come to the unexpected position of having all I want. I never thought I would see the day.

It is Walnut burl. IIRC!

I'm very aware!

What's the scale length?
[/quote]

Imagine reading a post about an item you want to sell and then forgetting to answer. The scale length is 22 3/4 inches. Thanks.

That is truly lovely. GLWTS.

A thing of beauty is a joy forever.

For that amount of money, you could buy six old bangers and drive them all to the Nurburgring ...

:D

Does that include fuel and breakdown cover?

Much as we all like to think that our special instruments are more special than anything else out there, my guess is that I have overpriced this so it is going down to £800.

It has a gig bag but nothing firmer. I did look at gun cases which would work but never got around to actually getting one.

My chosen weapon is Bass (Weapon of GAS distraction) so I have no gun stuff going on, but a rifle case would make a great hard case.

Something like this https://www.skbcases.com/sports/sku.php?cat=9&pid=175

Works for me.

$240 plus courier plus import duty & VAT, but you end up with a case that would survive a nuclear attack, has room for at least three uke basses, and is likely to get you taken down by a Tactical SWAT team as you enter the pub where you're playing.

We need more of this thinking.

Bump. I sold this. And then bought it back. But I am just not using it and have other projects which need my attention. By now strung with Kala metal strings and the flobabdob strings are in the case.
