Firstly it`s really not my style of playing, secondly I have a real problem with songs in that "tuned-down-to-wherever" thing, as I simply can`t pick out what`s going on. The rehearsals went well and when we had our first booking the singer left.That was the last time I gigged in 1998. Now I found the very end part of Two Minutes to Midnight by IM challenging. Having worked it out it just didn't seem to work with the band and then I realised it is due to having a very busy Drummer and Guitarist in the band and there really was too much going on. I can do it, but as soon as I step away from it for a while then it's gone. It was done on a fretless too, that would take me another 25 years to master. The version that was in Bassist magazine, for example, has so many errors it's almost worse than having nothing. It's a lot easier if your hands are in the right place... Keep your right hand over the bridge pickup and use rest strokes, anchoring your thumb on the E string just neckside of the pickup. I could provide a correct transcription (i.e. as NWR plays it) if you're interested... although it might be exactly what you're already playing. [/quote]I have this trouble with Monkey Man, can play the fast bass run on my own and with a drum machine but with the band I always struggle, mind you I've watched 3 bassists with other bands playing it and they all cheated. Yes, work it up with a metronome, section by section, only increasing the speed when you can play it relaxed at the slower speed. I copied the track to audacity, slowed it right down and transcribed it beat by beat, then took each phrase individually, looping them at reduced speed until I could play them smoothly.
