Dood
I'd be interested in responses too on this subject. I loved my Mission based cinema system but it had to go when the little one came along. Well, not so much little ones, maybe significant other didn't want them in the front room lol. skb558
I have an Orbitsound M12 which I can heartily recommend. The room our TV is in is 15' x 12' so it probably doesn't have to work too hard. It was on offer in Curry's a year or so ago.
SpondonBassed
Ah, the subtle art of childproofing your living space. Not had the pleasure myself but I have to keep certain things out of reach for when the lodger's grandchildren come 'round. They're not bad as kids go these days though. When the boy was small he had a fascination for the middle of my speaker cones. They were protected by wire mesh, the cats having ruined the grill cloth years before. The lad had tiny fingers however. I caught him trying to poke his finger into the domed part of the mid range cones on more than one occasion. You could see the mischievous glint in his eye when he was about to try it. Fortunately no damage was ever caused but it was so funny. Cato
I've been very impressed with the Denon systems I've heard. A mate of mine has this http://m.richersounds.com/#!/product/deno-heos-hc-blk Which is excellent, although probably not suitable for semi detached or terraced housing as I can imagine the bass transmitting straight through any party walls.
markstuk
wall mount your speakers?
timmo
One thing I would say is look after your controls. Mine was a tiny little handheld control and I lost it. I can`t use it without .I have only had the one, so I can`t really compare the sound to anything else
Bolo
Denon Heos and Sonos playbar get good reviews. I believe most brands carry them nowadays. I recommend one that doesn't need a separate subwoofer per sé
SH73
I mounted the speakers in 80s. Little one already has her own toy TV remote. But she loves the amp knobs and the speakers on the floor a perfect mix for a disaster.
Iceinmyveins
Soundbar is something I find really difficult to give recommendations for because every one is unique be it size, features, performance and of course price. You don’t really need to spend $1k for soundbar... There are soundbars with sub for less than $200. But if you can, spend more. Lots of $$$ in soundbar goes into the form factor and home theatre features such that normal speakers can sound as good for half the price. I find myself needing around $1k to get acceptable sound from TV soundbars, and many brands don’t even manage to reproduce proper sound even at higher prices (Granted, these brands, which shall not be named, also do not manufacture either a) AVRs, b) HT speakers, c) literally any proper audio product of any form, hence me concluding that their target customers are the kum gongs) Cheap soundbar: wisepick.org/best-soundbar-under-500 At cheap prices really, soundbars don’t give much improvement over TV speakers (unless you’re using those new super slim LCD/LED TVs which have horribad speakers - maybe the cause of cheap soundbars rising?) except mainly for the fact that it has a subwoofer. Cuzzie
Most new thin telly’s have awful speakers and they are after rear facing projecting the sound the wrong way. I picked up the Samsung soundbar and separate subwoofer and it’s pretty good and a a reasonable price. Eooder is Bluetooth, soundbar can be also but it works better and syncs better using the optical output

I was looking for a cheapish sound bar with great results... and ended up with this - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Panasonic-SC-HTB690EBK-Soundbar-Wireless-Subwoofer/dp/B00TTYOJUA/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_107_t_0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=HKG77JDD89EYD71NZBC5 - after lots and lots of listening. Replacing speakers with a sound bar is not the same as adding a sound bar to a TV. Almost any sound bar will be an improvement over internal TV speakers, but you're well into specialist areas if you want to replace separate speakers with an equivalent quality sound bar. Bolo
I believe the original question was resolved 8 months ago, so it's all moot now. In my experience cheap subs make sound worse rather than better, and one is better served by concentrating on the main thing: the unit that creates most voice and music. Because the default sound system of the TV is not quite enough. There are lots of soundbar in market right now. They are lots of variety in size, price and price. So it is very difficult to choose right one. Literally you don't have to spend much to get the right soundbar for you. There are some extremely cheap soundbar in market. They aren't good enough to serve your desire. So you have to find one with $200 or around $200. when I am researching I have found a nice guide on it. You can check it also. Cheap yet premium soundbar: https://pickinghut.com/best-soundbar-under-200/ I have noticed another thing is that some of them offering soundbar with sub woofer which are really good. Rocker
We have a Yamaha sound bar, bought from Cloney Audio around ten years ago. It performs very well and something I have no hesitation in recommending.
