mr zed Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 (edited) *** WITHDRAWN *** Up for sale is my 2014 Musicman Stingray 4 HH with a natural body, rosewood board and either tortie or black scratchplate (both supplied). The bass was built in 2014 and I've been the sole owner from new. Immaculate condition, there are no marks on the bass whatsoever (apart from a few little light marks on the scratchplates through normal use which are only noticeable under close scrutiny). The original hardshell case is included in the sale and this is also in mint condition. The bass weighs in at 9lb 14oz. This is a very versatile bass due to the 5-way selector switch. Position 1 gives you the classic stingray rear humbucker tone, position 2 selects the inner coils for a Precision-like sound, the middle position gives you both humbuckers whilst position 4 selects the outer coils which gets close to a Jazz. Position 5 is the front humbucker. The bass has a 3-band active eq. I'm based in Bolton Lancs and would prefer collection (I am prepared to deliver if the distance is reasonable). I am willing to send by courier at the purchasers expense. I'm not looking for any trades at the moment thank you as I need the case to put towards a recent motorbike purchase. Thanks for looking. Edited May 2, 2017 by mr zed
Dudly01 Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 For slapping purposes, could you please tell me the minimum distance between the neck pickup and the neck? Is shipping to hungary possible? Thanks!
The distance from the end of the fretboard (where the 'wheel of fortune' for trussrod adjustment is located to the front of the neck pickup cover is around 40mm based upon my measuring tape reading skills. I've never had a problem with slapping on this bass (although to be fair I don't tend to play slap that often). If you have any concerns or you play a lot of slap bass, maybe it would be best to go for something with a wider gap e.g. a single Humbucker Stingray? I don't really want to ship abroad due to customs and money transfer complications and I'm also not sure how strict the UK or Hungarian import rules are concerning the recent changes to CITES which I believe now includes Rosewood.
Dudly01 Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 (edited) The 40mm would be enough, but these CITES rules are quite the bummer for me too You are still in the EU? Then i think there should be no costums and the trade may be possible according to the end of page 2. EDIT:But yeah, all kinds of rosewoods are added to that list Edited March 4, 2017 by Dudly01
