BassApprentice Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 (edited) Erm....I don't think Ibanez quite finished these basses. That or they have a wood ant problem http://www.notreble.com/buzz/2017/03/05/ibanez-celebrates-30th-anniversary-of-sr-bass-with-limited-edition-models/ I'm sure it sounds lovely though! christhammer666 Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 I know I would drop a plectrum inside that within 0.2 seconds Quote
Marvin Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 I do wish Ibanez would quit with these horrid finishes. One of the reasons I never bought an SR500 is because it looks so god damned dull...yes, I am fickle Quote
stu_g Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 30th anniversary of soundgear basses,I have a 1987 sr1000e in a funky green colour,I think they should release some retro colour schemes. Quote
Cato Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 I quite like the holes. Not to keen on the fire damaged finish though. Quote
tubbybloke68 Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 They should make reissue of the musician bass but at a reasonable price this time!! A 5 string version would be very interesting.the musician was their 'classic ' model in my opinion. Quote
Krysbass Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 Looks different for sure. An SR600 has been my main bass since 2010 - but I'd struggle to find a higher-spec SR model to upgrade it to now; as I detest gold hardware or sunburst finishes. Overall; the multi-wood laminated bodies on most of the top-end SR models just look too "chocolate boxy"(over-done) - as one of my school art teachers used to say. The now discontinued Japanese made SR4000 looked tastefully understated IMHO, but the top-of-the-range SR5000 sadly falls into the "chocolate boxy" category. Quote
Harryburke14 Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 Rest assured. They sound incredible once you plug em in and weigh next to nothing. the only downside is that Ibanez "sandpaper unglossed" neck. Nice enough though if it's your jam. Quote

Cato Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 I like the look of the shiny white one, not so keen on the green. Quote
Treb Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 The green one looks cool IMO. Room for improvement in the knob department though. Those cheap knobs are só ugly on any instrument. They look utilitarian, fine on a piece of rack gear but not on a fine instrument. Quote
Woodinblack Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 I would have that white one in a heartbeat, especially with those pickups Quote

Dingwall Canadian basses use plastic knobs on anything but their £5000+ Prima instruments, but I can't imagine them with anything else as they just fit the look perfectly. Sometimes metal knobs look really naff, as can wooden knobs. Its all about the overall look. For example, I think they look really good on the white one Quote

lowhand_mike Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 they are quite nice, have been wondering what my SR would look like with a gloss finish recently, not got the bottle to do it though Quote
