I'm not sure if it qualifies as Hip-Hop but I'm throwing "Heavy Rhyme Experience" by The Brand New Heavies in the mix.
Absolutely fantastic album from start to finish & featuring some big hitters, oh & the bass won't disappoint either.

I listened to a fair bit of hip hop fromy early to mid teens.

Different facets to the genre, here are some jumping off points -
Darker stuff -
Cypress hill - temple of boom and black su day.
House of pain - same as it ever was.
Wu Tang Clan - 36 chambers

Lighter stuff -
Beastie boys - Paul's boutique and I'll communication.
De la soul 3 feet high and rising
Jurassic 5
The roots

Also for more bonkers stuff have a look at Dr.Octagon (alias for Kool Keith) and Handsome Boy Modelling School (kool Keith's producer Dan the Automator)

...and if you like Cyprus Hill you'll probably dig these guys - Funkdoobiest - arguably the originators of that particular style.

Fitting on International Women's Day. Jean Grae (formerly known as What What, when she did "The Blend" with Herbaliser).

Because folks have a different opinions, it does not make them trolls.

I personally have no time for rap, don't get it and that's my personal choice, but I respect other people's choices who do enjoy it.
