anzoid Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 Anyone looking to pick up one of Cliff Williams' old P-basses - here's your chance: http://guitar-auctions.co.uk/portfolio-post/lot-35-1958-fender-precision-bass-guitar-made-in-usa/ The main catalogue for the auction is here: http://guitar-auctions.co.uk/catalogue-preview-thursday-16th-march-2017/ and there's some tasty stuff. I've been to an auction at this place and it was good fun (well, actually a bit boring...), but before bidding make sure you've got your max limit nailed down, and remember that you'll pay an extra 25% in fees on top of the hammer price... jezzaboy Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 I wonder if this is the bass he used in Live at Donington in 91? Be perfect in my band...if I had a spare few thousands! Quote
E sharp Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 There's some really nice stuff there - some well priced . Nice quirky bits too . Though not too sure about the McCartney tax disc - he he Quote
philw Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 OK so why did you send me off looking at a guitar auction site I wasn't previously aware of. Damnit! Quote

bazzbass Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 I bet no frets on the G and D strings are worn, or any above the 5th fret ROTFL PMSL LOL Quote

NancyJohnson Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 I keep promising myself that I'll attend one of these auctions. I love that site. There's a Hamer Futura up. Ooooh. Quote

Conan Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 That's what a "relicked" instrument should look like! Fender et al take note. BTW, how to spell the word relicked? Should it have the k? Without it it should surely be pronounced like "released"? Or Maybe a double c? Relicced? Nah, that looks awful. I shouldn't worry myself about such things. Quote
Bigwan Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 Some of the other instruments look interesting. Lots of parts builds which should surely beat the estimates. There's a nice parts 50's P there might be worth a punt... Quote
anzoid Posted March 8, 2017 Author Posted March 8, 2017 There's enough GAS in the room that one only need light the blue touch paper and wait for the explosion... Maybe should have a Bass Chat meetup at the auction? Quote
Lw. Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 Flipping heck there are some decent bits in there - might have a little dabble on a few things next week, time to clear the diary! Quote
Thing is, there's no such word as, "relicked" so the question of its spelling is academic. "Relic" is a noun not a verb. Never has been, never will be (especially now I'm in charge). Quote
For sure - some price labels look attractive. The question is how high they go in the actual bidding process. Quote
