kevin_lindsay
I stubbed my toe on the edge of a rug, and stumbled on top of my bass - which was laying against the sofa! Strings went, "SNAP!!", and the neck gave a "CRUNCH" sound. Aaaagh! Saying that - I did the deed last Sunday, spoke to my insurance company on Monday where they requested pics and quotes for a replacement bass. I got those things to them by Wednesday evening. I then received an email today (Friday) saying everything was fine and they'd pay me the full cost of a replacement bass minus my £100 excess! Result!!! They're gonna transfer the money straight into my account on Monday. Incredibly quick service, and totally hassle free.

pete.young
It's going to be a challenge to find another one in the same colour!
kevin_lindsay
I'm simply having a new one made for me. Thanks to the generosity of the insurance company!

Platypus
Was that a claim on your household policy, or a separate musical instruments policy? Good to know some companies respond well to this kind of thing
kevin_lindsay
I actually just claimed it through my household contents insurance. Edited March 25, 2017 by kevin_lindsay
Ghost_Bass
Just get a new neck for it and use the rest of the insurance money to treat yourself to a new bass
lownote
looks like you might need to raise the saddles a tad to cope with the new break angle
W1_Pro
Ahh, house insurance. I had a similar incident a couple of years ago with an acoustic. Tripped, dropped it, buggered up the bottom bout and the binding. The repair plus refinish came in at a rather unpleasant £900. My insurance company, fair play to them, settled very quickly. When I came to renew the next year I found my premium had gone up by..erm..£600 because of the claim...bit of a bummer really...insurance companies, you think they work for you because you pay them. Mmmmmmm.....

Jabba_the_gut
That looks like a pretty clean break - are you going to get it repaired?? The Greeks Spector looked worse than than but turned out a treat.

EBS_freak
This insurance money - isn't it to replace the neck? This claim seems fraudulent if you are you making purchases elsewhere in addition to getting the bass repaired with a new neck. And people complain about ever raising premiums.
