Skybone Posted March 25, 2017 Posted March 25, 2017 Get well soon, hope it's not too long before you're back to normal (avoiding any reference to "it'll pass" Sorry). Shame you had to sell your upright, but if it funded your Jazz, then fair enough. Still think using an upright (electric of course) in a rock band would be a "Unique Selling Point" (and sound quite cool). Quote
paddy109 Posted March 30, 2017 Author Posted March 30, 2017 Just to update - I met up wth the band. They were great, very relaxed and happy to take time showing chords and structure of songs! As suggested I kept things simple and playing a different genre wasn't as challenging as I imagined. By the way I also got the gig! Quote
bazzbass Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 (edited) ask them to provide chord charts for each song, surely they have that? learn to read guitarist's chords from front on,this is a must for bassists in original bands if in doubt, fire the drummer ! oops missed your subsequent post, congratulations ! playing originals is very rewarding, maybe not financially, but musically. xgsjx Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 So is there a new genre?... Melodic Country Rock? Who'd have thought, "melodic" & "country" in the same sentence! Quote
