Makes a great noise and looks cool, but my fingers are too short and I succumbed to the lure of a Rob Allen. Mostly in good nick but sometime in its life before it came to me it had a ding on the bottom right where some of the finish has come away. Every time I go to get this out of the gig bag it is huge in my imagination, but when I take it out I go "oh, is that it? thought it was much worse". It's only about a square centimetre or so. Otherwise a couple of minor scratches but nothing significant, it has never affected the way it plays or sounds. A full set of photos can be found here https://www.dropbox....12QdpcK81Y49P8a (note - no it won't come with the Double Four amp!) It comes with the NS Designs gig bag and the standard tripod stand. In addition I'm throwing in the NS Endpin stand, (around £120 new now), which I think is much more natural in use. Currently has a nearly new set of NS contemporary flatwound light strings on it, there is also a set of still perfectly fine traditionals (I think, it was a while back) in the box that will be winging their way to the new owner. £550 ONO all in Would prefer collection as it's long, heavy and stick-like but can post. petebassist
Hi, have you ever raised the bridge on one of these and if so, do you know the maximum height you can get between the string and the fingerboard? I tried an NXT and CR4M at the London Bass show a couple of weeks back but the action was way too low for me, so I couldn't play it pizzicato as I do with my acoustic upright. I have considered a stick bass for easily carrying around to rehearsals, open mics & the like. Thanks.
Marc S
Far from the worst "ding" I've seen on a bass
nickmew
This seems to feel more like a double bass than the NXTs - which have a very low action. It naturally is a bit higher and the neck is a chunkier. Currently I think the middle string clearance at the 12th fret equivalent is about 7 or 8mm (haven't got calipers to properly check) and it'll go quite a bit higher than this. I've only ever played it pizzicato and you can definitely get a slap on it.
